My Dad used to just trim the top off of one of the trees, to use as a Christmas tree. He left enough of the original tree so it would keep growing. My favorite Christmas tree was the little potted one I bought, and then brought to my Dad at Christmas. I had a tree for a month, he planted it, and had it for the rest of his life.Haven’t seen any of those for years, at least where I’ve been. It came already decorated with little bitty ornaments.
comicsssfan: There was a time (maybe still) when Christmas tree farms did that. When the marketed part got too tall, they cut off the limbs for wreaths, cut down the trunk for pulpwood, and started over.

idk. I’ve had my fake tree for about 15 years. Still looks good. I hope it’s around for another 15.

Bought my little fake tree 13 years ago, and it’s still going strong.

In my country tree farms have helped to reforest whole acres, as the trees that aren´t sold stay there and grow completely.

You’ve put a very complex issue that many people treat as a sound bite into lovely perspective.
