Close, gopher gofer, but not quite! .Precocial are fully formed; birds have down (in the case of kildeer, even patterned the same as adult feathers); sight and hearing are functional; capable of keeping up with the herd; etc. Altricial have eyes closed; deaf; no feathers of any type; incapable of coordinated movement; poor body heat regulation; and such. Humans are altricial.
A vegetarian friend told me about watching an eagle sitting on top of a power pole, methodically ripping apart and eating dinner. She wasn’t sure what was dinner, but there was fur flying everywhere.

Yes, but once they’re sheared, they’ll be just the right size! (And you can use the wool for sweaters for the little darlings.)
