I got used to eating alone until I met my late wife and after she passed then until I met my 2nd wife. You get used to it and ignore the idiots. If anyone made a smart remark I’d just say I was there watching for narcotics trafficking(or prostitution)….. They usually ate up fairly quickly and moved on..LOL!

Given the choice of being alone for 1000 years or spending one minute with that crew, hmmmm, let me think…..

What’s the big deal about eating alone, anyway?

Coupled or not… if you happen to be alone at the moment when you feel like eating, what else are you supposed to do?Go home and eat Cheerios for dinner, in great embarrassment at the very idea that someone might notice you ingesting food without a companion?

Why? Yet I know women, even men, who seem to consider it a disgrace to sit in a restaurant alone. Yes, dining with others or, if possible, a special “other” is lovely…but I still get hungry when I’m by myself, and I haven’t needed anyone to help me with my spoon in years.

I like the way Burl’s tie is tucked into his shirt.

The sign says “your” should be “you’re”. Maybe on purpose? Just a pet peeve of mine.

I am single and I eat alone. It is not a big deal. I am also dine with friends I enjoy that too. Sometimes I like the solitude with my kindle or a good book. I noticed not one of them invited the man too their table. That says it all about them. Dining with others isn’t always a treat by the way. The wrong person can destroy a meal. For Example Some us went to sushi for lunch. One gal had to have everything special order and sent something back when her special order was already on the menu. Add in she is a drama queen with a ton of self made drama. That was not a pleasant lunch. So eating alone is underrated at times.

Y’know, there are times when I PREFER to eat alone! I would absolutely relish being able to sit down in peace and quiet, with nobody climbing up my bum with, ‘Mum! Mum! Mum!’ or ‘The loo is clogged, what do I do?!’ I would LOVE to be able to take time to enjoy my food all by my own little self. Seems this lot can’t live without an audience. Mean, petty little minds. I KNOW people like this. And I can sooooo appreciate what Bakumanfan said. Julie hit the nail on the head with this one.

I cannot imagine why, when these Cretans look out their windows, they don’t see an angry mob with pitchforks and torches. (Maybe even angry mobs don’t want to get too close.)

Eating alone in a restaurant (obviously) means having no one to chat with which is why I keep a few magazines in the car. I’d rather have something to read than have to look around at the other diners, even if they’re not paying any attention to me. If I do catch someone looking at me I stare back at them until they turn away.

I think Julie delights in annoying (much like Burl) and she provided an extra “find-it” if anyone cares.
