Great! Now the Obama Regime is telling people what company names are “Government Approved” and if you don’t follow those rules, they will set out to destroy your private business.I expect the White House May Day Party was one big celebration of our Great Leader! Lots of red uniforms too!

Sometimes we need to draw a line… at least for decency’s sake. The “n” word originally referred to Negro, a descriptive term for skin color that was considered OK during my childhood. Or how about what it would sound like to say “blackskins”, …or “whiteskins”… I feel there is a strong case for changing the name of the team.

Aren’t those more like job titles, like “steelers” or “boilermakers”?

I recall the Atlanta Braves causing controversy in 1990s with the “Tomahawk Chop” that was deemed offensive.

I was surprised the Patent office removed trademark protection on a trademark that has been issued for a long time. I guess all you have to do is get a crowd together and bad mouth a trademark to get it revoked.

The government can not force anything here. Only the truly profit making private business enterprise of the NFL can do this, one way or the other. This is not a legitimate anti president Obama thing, so get over it you anti American profit making American business ultra conservatives!!

^^^ lolAlso, I’m VERY offended by the Fighting Irish name with a little leprechaun as their mascot!!!!!!!!I want big mommy government and the Copyright Office to get involved ASAP!This and the Redskins name is why we pay our politicians to tackle the most pressing issues facing our country!

Actually, there is significant evidence that “redskin” is a word of native american origin.

“Now its [sic] just another word”?

You might want to ask a Native American about that.

Mr. Hawthorne is entitled to his opinion, but hundreds of thousands of his fellow Indians disagree with him — vehemently.

I have some Indian heritage and the one thing that has always made me sad is that I did not get the red skin, straight black hair and high cheekbones. They should be proud of their beautiful features, not resentful that someone noticed.

I can’t stand when arrogant politicians stick their nose where it doesn’t belong (especially when they have greater issues to not be stonewalling), but I really hate when they make feelgood legislation to make themselves look better and fool the general public.

This opens up only the word “redskins” not the colors, or the logo. So let’s rush and get our blaze orange shirts with the word “Redskins” on the front. That will hurt that nasty 1 percenter Dan Snyder.

Actually what this will do is open up any strip club, tattoo parlor, casino, and other fine establishments to have a neon flashing sign calling themselves some form of Redskin business. That really shows respect for the native americans that they claim to be so worried about.
