My mother was a world-class prude, and wouldn’t allow my sister or me to babysit for male children who hadn’t been potty-trained.

I was constantly in charge of my “little brother” (who died at least 5 years ago in his early 60s) so never got to be paid for sitting anyone (I raised 4 kids of my own and have since babysat for grandkids).

Babysitting was my bread and butter from the age of 12 until I landed a desk job at 17, and then it was extra spending money ’til I finally gave it up at 23 (when I had only one client, and I watched her child while she was out of town.) I keep up with a few of my “old kids”, and most of them have children now.

(Deleted first snarky-sounding version of this) As far as finding out the “old guy” I’m talking to is younger than I am — I love when I realize that I’m in good shape and look younger than my years.

Does “pet sitting” count, Tony?
