92 million and growing, primarily due to brilliant government policies. This is the regulator-economy.

Many of the “employed” sector is not a productive part of society. Try getting any help at many stores for an example.

Not a productive part of society? Being a grandparent is an important job, and we can always (still) learn stuff from our elders. So they could still be pretty productive. Like Lila’s so “productive” herself. :P

It’s pretty difficult to not be a productive part of society. Not having a job makes you the “go-to” person for “Mom my car has to go to the shop, can you take it in?” “Can you babysit on the days I’m called in to work in the daytime?” etc. etc etc. Granny has taken the place of the stay at home mom, since few women can afford to do that anymore. And, taking care of chores for those who are working is helping them be more productive.

I am not elderly but I take offense to the implication that elderly people are not a productive part of society. And don’t get me started on the anthropological aspects.
