braindead: back in 69 the Army purged my medical records before sending them off to St. Louis, so I wouldn’t have a claim for three different disabling conditions. It ain’t new for the military to screw over vets, and btw, not ONE SINGLE Viet Nam era record was destroyed in the “fire” in St. Louis, it just gave them an excuse to deny us our records.
My son’s problem is with the NAVY saying he’s not combat connected, for injuries from an IED in IRAQ among other things, so the Pentagon hasn’t changed. I know a number of other guys from Iraq and Afghanistan getting the same “treatment”. If VA can’t establish viability of claims from the service record, the vet is screwed, or forced into that hugely long wait for recognition.
