Val: Let's be clear. You are NOT going to spend the summer being COUCH POTATOES.
Val: If YOU can't think of PRODUCTIVE ways to spend your time, I WILL.
Holly: NO! We can do it!!
Val: Let's start by turning off the T.V.
Holly & Alix: WHY?!

Holly and Alix will have to know will power. No, not William Power, Willard Power, Wilbur Power, Wilfred Power or even Wilford Power. It’s just will power.

They wouldn’t need willpower if they could get more interested in something other than TV. Wishful thinking, I know. More likely for Alix than Holly. Alix should still have her “ocean” to explore.

I think we are about 15 minutes from, “You Gotta Love August”

Holly I can see being a coach potato, but Alix? I thought she loved the outdoors.

Why the layers and long sleeves? I guess they’re having a cool summer.

I am also surprised Alix is not getting her small pool ready for fun. With wearing long sleeves mean the weather there is still too cool for pool time? For my children they had fun time with VBS to library and park time. They rode bikes. My daughter learned to roller blade. I paid for swimming lessons. Small town. Son did not like water but video games.

Re: Layering and long sleeves: My husband adjusts the A/C so that I have to wear a sweater indoors, though it may be 95°outside (Florida).

Val is just a hater because the kids get to relax at home while she still has to get up and go to work everyday.

It is still cool here in OR. We’ve had a very cool rainy week this week with highs only in the 60’s. Explains the layering and long sleeves from our perspective anyway.

Sorry girls.

When I was a kid, there wasn’t much to watch on TV during the week, anyway. But we had a pool – not a deep one, but enough to swim in. We had bikes to ride, open fields to play in, woods to hike in. I was never bored; even if there was nothing to do, that was one of the best things about summer – doing nothing and taking it easy! Watch the clouds pass, watch the grass grow, enjoy the time!

A TV is nice to have, but nobody needs one.
