Before the turn I thanked those of you who were wondering, or surmising, in case you guys missed it….
What actually happened, (in the unlikely case that anyone actually wants to know) was that California had a primary election Tuesday.
I worked my usual 16 hours at a polling place… and there’s a bit more to the job in the days beforehand…. plus trying to sleep earlier Monday night so I could get up when I usually go to bed.
I’ve also started my summer job at the Wednesday night farmer’s market…. and I spent a lot of the weekend gardening…So StelBel was right. My candle melted.
As for Martin…. I think I know that guy.Well, he has a different name…. but I’m sure I do.And I think there’s a bit of him in most people…and even more of him in the sort of people who congregate online, discussing comics, instead of running around in packs in the evening…
That’s NOT a criticism…I am one of them…and you are all my people…
Cheers, tribe!Come down off the roof…. you’re safe in Ballard County.
And you’re very welcome at the Tiki…. whether standing at the bar or hiding in the shadows.
In fact, you can even sit on the Tiki roof if you feel better there….and as long as you promise you won’t fall off, the little monkeys can bring you up a beer or a banana dak.
They’re here Tuesday and Thursday nights, so you’re in luck… sorry but on his nights, Fenton doesn’t do roofs. You have to hope the Monkey’s here.
Hi Dog…Sorry, the reference is lost on me…. I don’t have cable, and since the digital switchover in 2008 (?) I only get one small local PBS station and hardly ever watch TV.
I know who Al Roker is, but that’s about it.If I’ve inadvertently borrowed one of his catch-phrases, I’d be happy to send it back….I know it was my fault, but it would expedite delivery if he would send me a stamped, self-addressed envelope.
Martin likes to listen in on all the witty banter below, without feeling forced to ‘contribute’ to the party atmosphere. And this way, he can easily avoid Winifred Whiner and her sister Bernice Babbler, two fat bottomed gals who can’t possibly get up on the roof…
“Hey Martin…..that is my hangout.”Vet always takes the high ground.Send up a drink sometime.Shout out to all those D-Day guys and gals, past and present.ONE BIG SALUTE!!!!!!!!!
Sometimes life in Ballard is too social, crazy, and or just plain weird. Thats why the Tiki was built with lots of corners, and in any given night you will see several (or all) of us in a corner. Nursing a drink and perhaps an order of yak fries and sitting with our backs to the room and facing a corner! So comforting and peaceful.
Doh said, about 14 hours agoGood morning everyone. At least he has not found my ‘quiet’ spot. I too like to be alone surrounded by people. Peace. :)-— You describe me exactly DOH. I saw your quiet spot from MY quiet spot. Shhh. Mum’s the word.
SUSAN, you are just right to work at the Tiki. You make us all feel welcome to unsocialize as much as we want together. Kitty-Kitty Bang-Bang and I are hanging out on the far side of the Tiki’s roof. The really far side. Cheers
@Susan, I find (like Martin) a difficulty relating to others – or participating in conversations where I’m not close enough to overhear and I don’t want to be thought that I’m eavesdropping.
Very few people believe that I’m basically shy, but that is true. Unless I have a reason to speak with others I will remain seated without speaking unless spoken to. Cuddles was an opener for me as is my new man (who likes puns and quips as much as the best of you).
I got loads of sleep last night (to make up for my smoke alarms) and then my realtor had reason to cancel today, so I finally went on a delayed visit to the mall – (Marshalls, DSW and Total Wine). At the latter I picked up some Black and Tan, Sessions Dark, Apple-Ginger Cider and gin; I’m set (hopefully till this house is sold). Good night all!

@Annette,I just got home and was checking the end of my comics before moving to tomorrow.
Good idea about asking – I had not considered. I will be listing as soon as realtor sees the house. I so easily found a good man.
