We always take our own lunch.And finally, why would Joy need an apron, she never actually cooks anything. On second thought, they rarely make the ties long enough to get around her.
Call Amtrak about FLIGHT times? HUH? These people are even more idiotic than I thought! Good grief! And leave it to the Pennys to worry about the FOOD on a flight! Sheeeeesh! I’ll bet that Mid-Air serves nothing but grease, salt and sugar, which is right up the Pennys’ alley!

Am Track flies alright, when they get on it goes a lot faster and cuts their time in half. That way there is no meal served, But they will be happy with the hohos and ding dongs they bring.
All I get for snacks is a cookie assortment and a drink. I usually take my own though.
Remember, Julie re-uses her work..a strip can be new, or a re-purposed panel with all new dialogue….or a full or partial re-run.
She has also said that she sets the strip in the 90’s…. though that isn’t always consistent.
So they have wall phones with cords, giant console TV’s, 80’s and 90’s decor… and sometimes a cell phone.
S’OK… I know older people whose possessions are a mix like that of the last 40 years.
Maybe this strip is a re-run,… but even if it’s just set in the 1990’s….airlines were still competing on meal service.It wasn’t till this century they decided you could pay extra or starve.
As for why there’d be meal service on such short, local flights, though….or why a flight would take off early and abandon some passengers…and why the Pennys (or anyone) takes planes anyway, within that small area…or why call AMTRAK (!!?)
….today’s to -do list is only ALMOST completely stupid: That last one ‘bout the faucet’s obviously a cleverly placed decoy!! Can’t be too careful, even in your very own kitchen!!
@Susan, I hope you don’t think I was mocking the artist. I only searched because Orben made it sound like a household word, only to find a similar artist name. I was happy to find a similar abstract piece in red that went along with the joke. Much of my extended family dabble in art and some actually sell.
As to food on planes, the flight on route to Chicago from Phoenix (less than 3 hours usually) is first class so my ticket says lunch. I never usually book first class, but that is how my son did that flight (economy on return leg). I would usually pack my own sliced apple and sharp cheddar so now I’m in just a bit of a quandary whether to do so anyhow.
I may not like what they provide as well as my own simple fare. I decided that as I’m only going for the weekend and I don’t want to put anyone out for shopping for the return trip, I’ll pack that anyway and eat the airline food if it suffices, then have my snack already for the return trip. I WILL put some lime juice on my apple slices so they stay fresh in the container.
They are indeed air heads. I like Middle Eastern Airlines. They DO serve great food. And the flight attendants aren’t the grouchy old dames one normally encounters.
I remember calling Alaska Air to ask what they were serving, and she gave me a list of fish dishes I could order, 1990s, sigh.Flying to Hawaii (we saved up points to fly First Class) we got really good food, including a wonderful souffle for breakfast, Don’t know how American pulled it off!So, yes, you don’t always have to buy, but to really make your seat mates envious just bring an In-And-Out Burger on board!
