While like many cancers, there may not be a total cure, but if we don’t put anthropogenic climate change (a term used since the 1950’s!) at least in remission, and soon, it may be too late even for that. But hey, that’s 100-200 years down the road, so don’t worry; who cares that previous equivalent changes took thousands or millions of years, plate tectonics, and other forces “Man” can’t quite match, yet it still took them longer than Man.
I grew up in the 1950’s and no one talked about climate change that I recall. In the early 70’s, the scientists claimed we were entering an ice age. However, we should all try to keep our space clean and unpolluted.
I subscribed to Scientific American for 30 years. I was thinking of taking it back up, but you say it is still “dumbed down”? It was getting that way when I left it, but aren’t all magazines doing that sort of thing to stay in print? I always enjoyed the scientific illustrations, but now photographs have taken then over, and the cutesy covers aren’t to my taste. Soon there will be no more paper media.. If I may ask, what do you think of National Geographic these days? More and more I read that people sneer at its scientific value. Do you think it’s because the editors have heavily stressed global warming articles? When NGM goes, that’s when I stop getting print magazines altogether. I used to get six different monthly magazines, and now NGM is the only one.
