Methinks Burl is actually engaging in a bit of irony here. Look at him look at Patty when he says he wants half the pie. And the s**t-eating grin on Dale’s face.
About the only thing Burl and Joy eat only half of, is dinner for 12.
I do have to say….A few restaurants I’ve been to offer half-size meals, or senior meals that are, in fact, about half the size…but it’s only chain restaurants, and they charge WAY more than half price.
Which actually makes sense… it’s not just the raw ingredients of your meal that the price of it has to cover.
Only the Pennys can manage to eat so much that their food cost the restaurant more than what it cost to serve it: ie, that fraction of the wait and kitchen staff salaries…. plus the rent, hot water, crockery, etc.
