Just remembered when I was teaching freshman English at Auburn U. in 1961 (geez, I’m old!). A student raised his hand. He was an “A” student, and very polite. When I called on him, I felt my face get all super-smiley, and my eyebrows lift expectantly. “Oops, gotta watch that!” I thought.
Teenager? ANY woman in love is the same! How well I know, and when/if I answer phone for unknown number I have a voice that displays lack of interest and (hopefully) does not even sound womanly.
