Hey, I’ll stand around all day with the men/women whom my policies disable as long as I don’t have to see anyone in my family go to the front. Why not put down the propaganda and try looking at how to stop our aggression world-wide in the first place?
As a Vietnam vet, I qualify for VA medical benefits. They set me up with a series of appointments for tests and said I would hear from them. Then I received five containers of pharmaceuticals in the mail, drugs with horrific side effects which I immediately returned unopened. I just received a bill from the VA for over $400. As for the drugs, they tell me I can’t return them and they can’t stop sending them until the prescription runs out in 2 years.
I don’t expect to be rewarded for serving my country. But I don’t expect to be punished either.
In addition to the drugs, I was prescribed and issued glasses, which I have returned three times because they make my vision worse. But I have to pay for them anyway (not the glasses themselves but the eye doctor charges $50 per appointment).
The US has never been much interested in helping the oppressed. Check out the history of the US in Central America, for instance — and in the post-WWII years, check out US policy in Iran or in Guatemala. Hey, the US was never much interested in helping out the oppressed in the US. Check out the history of lynching in the US.
Yes, photo op. The quantity of Bush’s photo ops with disabled vets and/or the dubious actions of his successor don’t change the cuts made during the Bush Administration.

Yup, photo op = whole hearted support. Actions such as the Bush Administration cutting veteran’s benefits don’t count.

And how many fewer photo ops like these would be possible if we hadn’t gone into Iraq? Chicken Hawk.

Hey! If it wasn’t for false equivalencies, the right wing wouldn’t have any equivalencies at all!

The Pride of Pittsburgh……………serving no real purpose, as usual.

I will never go back to a VA hospital again.
