Anything to get out of a conversation that Holly does not want to be in the middle of… ;)

Even Tomoya Okazaki of anime “Clannad” wasn’t sure what he wanted to do after graduating from high school. He temporally was a baker at his girlfriend Nagisa Furukawa’s parents’ bakery, but then became an electrician after asking Yusuke Yoshino who was already an electrician who was once a rock musician.

Oh, heck! I was fifty before I figured out what I wanted to be when I grew up. Don’t rush her.

My oldest has known exactly what she wants to be since 3rd grade (a robotics engineer), but my youngest has no idea. While I know she has plenty of time to figure it out, I would think it would be easier to know so she has something to work towards. Plus, they now test/assess kids in the 8th grade so they can direct their classes to concentrate in the area they’re interested in.@whmill – Now I’m curious…. what did you do in your profession?

It should be ‘home’ in. You home in on something, as with a homing beacon or a homing pigeon. ‘Hone’ means to sharpen, as a knife or a skill.

When I was Holly’s age, the vocation I wound up in (Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor) was inaccessible to women because we were considered too fragile to endure its rigors: Home visits, negotiating to get jobs for disabled people (“differently abled” now), etc.

What age is Holly..? thirteen? Naaah… unless she’s had some life-imprinting experience she won’t have a clue. Now her little sister… she’s got zoologist or explorer or vet written all over her.
