That’s One Way to get Holly to do her homework…and Joan has a preview of coming attractions with her little boy (whose name escapes me at the moment!). Of course, there’s always Wally’s nephew to use as an example… ;)

Some of it is the parent’s job, but a lot of it is up to the kid.

I have never understood why parents have to sit with their children while they do their homework?? Checking the finished work before other activities is one thing but helping every step of the way is not really helping!!

You going to sit with her through college, too? Let her know that she does NOTHING— no TV, no computer, no friends, no music, no nothing until all homework is done each night/weekend. Then check when she claims to be done and sit her butt back down if it’s not. Most schools are more than happy to have each teacher write down assignments and send the paper home (and it’s instant grounding if the kid ‘loses’ the paper.)

It could be that there is one 66 year old for every three 18 year olds. That comes to an average of 30 also. I see plenty of folks supplementing their social security at fast food places.

The cost of higher education began to rise with the increase in Govt. guaranteed loans. Without even blushing, the colleges saw the profits and ran with it. Another reason to restrict Govt. involvement in the free market. It always starts with trying to do the right thing.
