    For the trial I served on there were two alternates that had to sit the entire trial and nobody but the Judge knew who they were. Just after final instruction the Judge announced “Frank and Judy, I’m afraid you were our two alternates. You may not go into deliberation”.I could see them both deflate with disappointment. However they were allowed to leave. The remainder of us had about 13 hours of deliberation before us.

    Notice the alleged killer is looking up, not at the jurors. Also notice the female juror in a yellow top; if any juror IS looking at the defendant, SHE is; makes me wonder if they know each other, and he’s embarrassed about having a relative or acquaintance in the jury for HIS case. Or isn’t that allowed?

    problem with sitting there in the open – you can’t multi-task – read a book, do a crossword puzzle, draw…. or nap. .And I have a real problem sitting still and attentive – its nap time for me.
