if you are gonna let a book tell you what should be common sense but you need to read it anyway.. why not have a chance with fortune cookies: they come in short sentences, plus you get a bonus cookie
I’ve read the bible (Old Testament, New Testament), the Koran (translated to english), The talmud (translated to English)….
…and I’ve discovered that these old tomes have in common are two simple core values:
Treat yourself and others with the same dignity and respect that you’d like to be treated.
If you want something, work hard to earn it, work hard to keep it – and if you get a very good thing going, share a part of your good fortune with others who are less fortunate.
It can’t get any more simpler than that.
However, reading a mysterious book that is kept under glass isn’t going to help you succeed in life. It’s the choices and actions you make that define whether or not you will blossom.
There’s nothing in the book. Its mystery is simply the motivation to make the change. Alex wants a magic pill (the book), and Betty knows there isn’t one. Both are staying true to character.

…but not always for the better.

I read the whole thing three times. Lost faith each time. By the end of the fourth time everything became clear. Atheism was the result. True story.
