It’s a crime to not have something or some place or someone for kids to keep their minds off the streets. – Thanks for this one, Robb!….

Kudos from me too, Mr. Armstrong. But, given the time of year and the hoop in panel 3, I would have expected the kid to have a basketball (easier to get a game, or just play/practice by yourself), not a football (need several to play) — I know it wasn’t the point, just seemed odd to me. I wish there was a PAL in every city.

Thank for this strip today. I remember on the web when an officer did the very same thing, saw a kid with a football standing by himself, officer stopped and go out of his car and tossed the football with the youth. Let’s youth see officers like to have fun too.

In addition to what “CDK” and others have said, it’s also an up hill battle for the parents who do care. They do their part, but the kids have to leave the house at some particular point for the day. At that time, their attention is constantly being lured by what is out there, including that element…. – And in addition, there’s the radio and TV, and what I was originally referring to, the closing and neglecting of many a community center for kids to play and develop their abilities for sports or the cutting of funds for school and after school programs designed to foster a kid’s appreciation for music, the arts, science, you name it!…. there are parents who don’t put the right thoughts in their kids’ minds and hearts. But there are many who do . But either way, the battle has many fronts…..
