Gladys: You're going to work?
Brutus: Veeblefester asked for volunteers to help with inventory.
Gladys: But why did you volunteer to work on a Saturday?
Brutus: I volunteered because he said it was an order!
That’s how the U.S. Postal Service gets volunteers to work on holidays (at mail processing centers, not carriers). And during December they can work you 7 days a week for 12 hours a day, because of Christmas. The rest of the year it’s only 6 days a week for 10 hours a day. God I loved my job.
