Yep… popularity over there in the late 60’s kept them going. I didn’t get to go to a show by either but from what I’ve since seen on YouTube I think both The Beach Boys and the Rolling Stones best tours were in 1972.
As i went into Newport today to go do my volunteer time at the animal shelter i noticed that the big gray van i saw at the Power Ford Car Sales there last week was still there. At some level i mad the connection that it might be the same van that i saw at the Power Used Cars in Lincoln City a few weeks ago.I stopped in and looked at it. Yup, could be. Same $20k price that i was told when i called the Lincoln City lot last month. It is actualy a van to bus conversion with a wheelchair lift. And is probably has a big V8. And it probably has lots of miles. And there is no telling what kind of mechanical problems it has. And its far bigger than i want and need for my job.So why do i lust for it?If it is in the lot next week when i go into town i may take a closer look. If it is still siting in the lot it may be a big white elephant for the company. Who knows?Well, i can dream about miracles, even if i don’t believe in them.
I was thinking more in terms of what they played. If I’m straight they’d actually open with Surf’s Up in the early 70’s. Then play stuff off of that album, ‘Carl’, Sunflower etc. This was when Ricki and Blondie were part of the touring group.
Bruce left in 72 (came back in 79) I don’t recall exactly when in 72 they came on but Blondie Chaplin and Ricky Fataar kind of replaced Bruce for a while. (mis-spelled it as ‘Ricki’ the first time. it is with a ‘y’)

Well it is important to know these things. What bothers me though, is what they don’t tell you.
