Good afternoon Fellow Baby, cleo, SUGIE* and and all ye’ gathered here.
tcar-1, I have been in this job since Jan. 1983. I was “vested” a number of years ago and could have retired at 50. Trouble is, I really like my job and the people I work with. And we have been through a lot in our personal lives, marriages, births, deaths, we are a “family”. Most of us have been here almost as long as me, the “newbie” has been here 3 years, very nice young man married with 2 young children. I don’t see him going anywhere to work but here, either. Hubby retired this past March from Corrections. I think I’ll stick around here a bit longer, “God willin’ and the Creek don’t rise”.
I figured it out the other day. At our 1100 employee site we are losing 68 people in this voluntary separation. Took minimum of 30 years seniority and you had to be at least 60 to qualify. Most leaving have 35-45 years. We’re losing about 2700 years experience! Truth is we’ve all grown up here!

A Work-career.
Oh, so tcar-1 is tiring!
(I retired three times until it stuck 4 years ago, so I call the first attempt “tiring”)
