Holly: I figured out what I want to be when I grow up.
Val: What?
Holly: Retired! And a snow bird...like Gramma.
Val: I think you have to be retired FROM something to achieve that...
Holly: You always get bogged down in the details.
Yes, but Gramma is working in her retirement, either helping with your household or volunteer building for the disadvantaged.Holly thinks retirement should give her an excuse to do nothing.
Well, in the long run everyone makes their choices. I’m retired from engineering (because work for a woman my age gave up 5-6 years ago). I can just manage on SSA + my required deductions from retirement accounts but I’m thrifty (and so is my new friend). He has been managing OK even though only divorced a few years now (and living in a smaller house).
I have tried to mentor another guy I met on that dating site, still living with his X and 2 grown sons (40+) who pay no rent. I’ve tried to convince him to think and loose the baggage so he will be able to find someone. There were many possibilities I found on the site (I only met 4 in person- one is the loser I’m trying to help). We converse on Skype (mostly just IM) but I will not give him my real address or anything, and if my new man introduces me to family, he’s out of the picture. I doubt he’ll ever make the moves he needs to.
Even tho’ I’m a Libra, I DO make decisions and changes when necessary.

If I were a snow bird, I’d go from Washington to Arizona; it’s where the majority of my maternal family lives (I’m born/bred Washington).

Aaand Holly’s back to her usual self. It was nice seeing the mature side of her, though. I’m sure that gives Val some hope for her elder daughter. :)

I would be a snowbird if it weren’t for my grandchildren who live just 5 minutes from my house here in Wisconsin.
