I hate when this happens. Also, when a casual acquaintance waves at you like they’re really happy to see you, and you only realize after you return their wave that they were looking at someone behind you.
Or when a neighbor waves from a car with heavily tinted windows so you have no idea to whom you’re waving . . but I guess it doesn’t matter. My little subdivision only has a few streets that connect out of our few blocks so most who pass by are someone we SHOULD know ;-)
