He’d better not have her declawed. That’s the worst thing to do to a cat.

Why is it bad to declaw? Don’t have a cat, just curious.

Five boys: It essentially amputates the last joint of their toes. Since they walk on their toes, it is like humans walking on leg stumps, as TammiFunnies points out, they also lack their main defense and tend to bite a lot. Clipping the tips of the claws (careful to avoid the different colored part which is where the growth occurs) will get the same benefits without hurting the cat.

On one episode of My Cat From Hell the cat would not use the litter box. Turns out the cat had been declawed and the guy told the people the litter hurt his feet because the cat had no claws.

I had an outdoor cat, claws intact. But to the coyote, she was lunch, claws and all.

Thanks for the information. Cannot imagine anyone doing that to their pet.

I will not have a cat because when I have a pet it is a parrot, but I agree about cats being kept indoors. They can be a terrible nuisance to your neighbors.

@Penny, it is also true that most people would assume that Ralph would be considering that – since his cat is destroying furniture. My bird did also (as I showed today on Ballard St).
