The New York Times last weekend reported after an extensive investigation that the video did contribute to the incident. Whether they are right or wrong I have no idea.
Wait…first Obama said it was because of a video that no one ever saw….then they admitted it wasn’t…..now it’s the video’s fault again? Just as to WHY Libs keep listening to each lie that comes out of Obama’s mouth as gospel truth is beyond me…
The Facts About BenghaziBy THE EDITORIAL BOARDPublished: December 30, 2013
An exhaustive investigation by The Times goes a long way toward resolving any nagging doubts about what precipitated the attack on the United States mission in Benghazi, Libya, last year that killed Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and three other Americans. The report by David Kirkpatrick, The Times’s Cairo bureau chief, and his team turned up no evidence that Al Qaeda or another international terrorist group had any role in the assault, as Republicans have insisted without proof for more than a year. The report concluded that the attack was led by fighters who had benefited directly from NATO’s air power and other support during the uprising against Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi and that it was fueled, in large part, by anger at an American-made video denigrating Islam. In a rational world, that would settle the dispute over Benghazi, which has further poisoned the poisonous political discourse in Washington and kept Republicans and Democrats from working cooperatively on myriad challenges, including how best to help Libyans stabilize their country and build a democracy. But Republicans long ago abandoned common sense and good judgment in pursuit of conspiracy-mongering and an obsessive effort to discredit President Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, who may run for president in 2016.http://www.nytimes.com/2013/12/31/opinion/the-facts-about-benghazi.html?_r=0
The real irony to me at least, is that representative Issa is the representative of a congressional district in that most hated liberal state by ultra conservatives on this site, the so called liberal state of “California”!!
It’s absolutely amazing; hundreds of thousands are dead, trillions of dollars are gone, because Bush and crew totally lied about Iraq and sold the people and Congress a false bill of lading for a war in Iraq, and four folks are lost in a combat zone, the Ambassador himself knowing full well the danger, and “Benghazi” is the war cry of the biggest liars, chickenhawks, and traitors in our history???
Being wrong about what precipitated an attack and a crisis is not the same thing as a lie. And what the hell difference does it make whether embassy staff were killed by persons infuriated by an outrageous video, or a planned an attack by persons infuriated by American foreign policies. Much better to stop and analyze the situation before rushing in as fools do.
What I don’t understand is the people of his district. If I hired someone to do a job and they had the worst production record in history, then shut down the company, why would anyone in their right mind renew his contract every two years.
If they were forthcoming about what happened in Benghazi from the get-go it would not have dragged on for this long. At first they couldn’t even get their story straight.
ypoonstang: You left off the critical “NOW” in “what difference does it make…”, which, Clinton was telling them that we need to use the lesson and improve security in the future (which Congress has refused to fund, for a couple decades in these outposts, actually, there’s “cost benefit” analysis that does say that not every compound can be totally “protected” from any and all potential actions.
You also point out that W and crew WERE the ones who betrayed our troops with inadequate supplies when invading Iraq as Rumsfeld himself pointed out. “Miscreants” of the decade: “W”, Cheney, Feith, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Dick Perle, and every AEI and other group supporting that administration’s rush to a totally wrong war based on absolute lies! (Yes, my son was there, getting a lifetime disability, and our friends died, for no valid reason but to support the lie. By comparison, the “Gulf of Tonkin Incident” that got me into ’Nam, was totally honest, as at least we were supporting a “friendly” government that “asked us in” to helpl)
Jeff Danziger must have some supernatural knowledge of the “facts” since, so far, out of the White House all we get are lies. Also, Jeff must have seen some videos that have not been released to the public. The videos that have been released do not support Jeff’s claim in his cartoon. But then, what can you expect from liberals except for lies?

The sign indicates he’s just been unable to capture Issa.
