So we go from Jim Davis and “Garfield” to Berkeley Breathed and “Bloom County”. What’s the style for next Sunday, Bill Watterson and “Calvin”? Can’t wait to find out! By the way, Scott, your drawing talents are impeccable. Keep up the great work!

I’ve said it once. I will say it again, Scott clones other peoples styles extremely well. I tip my cap to him.

Too funny! I think Melvin looks terrified in this panel. Probably just my perspective, though.

I was given the “Hardly Working” collection of WD as a Christmas present, and it’s got this history in the back of it. I don’t want to give anything away, but the end just gets too fantastic for me. It ends with “Working Daze” being taken over by a pair of truly talented artists, first Kyle Miller and then Scott Roberts. As if Zakour would EVER have the kind of luck he’d need to get them to work with him!

I must say, I have been secretly looking forward to the end of this history for some time, but continued reading because I know better than to throw the baby out with the bath water.Today’s history strip, however, has surely made it worth continuing; I love it! I am a big fan of Bloom County, since before I fully understood the gags (I’m 41 now), and must take my hat off to you, sir, I have never believed Berke Breathed’s art syle AND gag style could be so properly honored. Amazing! I hope he reads this one!!I see Binkley in Jay, Steve Dallas in Ed, Bobbi Harlow in Carolina, Yaz Pistachio in our blonde character (Sue, I think?), a nod to our PC Banana Jr., and of course a lovestruk Melvin looking like a cross between Bill the Cat and a lovestruck Binkley when he met Blondie in school, sporting Steve Dallas’ sense of decorum. Outstanding! LOVE IT!!!!

By the way, I see you have incorporated basic elements of Mr. Breathed’s life and work into Mr. Bakelaar’s background. Are our previous WD artists also reflections of popular cartoonists of yore? This makes me want to suddenly dig deeper into our history here :-)

Great work capturing BB’s style in this one, form the ‘Banana’ computer ref to portraying Carolina with the ‘great caboose’ and ‘luscious melons’ Breathed gave his sexy tomatoes. [that he never draw enough of for my tastes]

Agreed, nice nod to Berkeley Breathed. Recognized his style right away, loved the old “Bloom County” strips, even recognized his work in “Secondhand Lions” in the “Walter & Jasmine” strips on the desk in the beginning of the movie.

Next week I’m predicting a nod to Garry Trudeau of “Doonesbury” fame, although Scott Adams (“Dilbert”) would be good too.

Good work on this drawing! Melvin looks scared and possibly stoned when confronting Caroline. I wish Rita was in this strip, but I guess she’s probably being entertained by Opus. Maybe next week’s style will be “Dilbert”, “Mutts”, or “Zits.” Man o man! I would like love to see “Zits” by you guys in the future. Take care!
