Harleyquinn, where do you live that they are going to drug test children? No one, not even the insanely stupid GOP of today is planning on drug testing children. However there are many goComics commentors who probably would benefit from drug testing and subsequent counseling.

Since you don’t get the reference, the GOP has often tried drug testing applicants for SNAP or Medicaid. Hence the Santa as Scrooge reference. What they find is not surprising — drug use is much lower among Medicaid recipients than it is among members of state legislatures. Poor people can’t afford drugs.

Drug test Congress: from recent events, the GOP would be suddenly shy a lot more members than from the other side of the aisle.

Daily Kos has run a “20 things the poor do every day”, and one of the facts was that few, far fewer than proclaimed by the “right”, are on drugs- partly they can’t afford them! If you want junkies, try Wall Street et al, and let’s test them along with all legislators, federal and state.

“Hope the other states will follow quickly and catch those abusing the system.”You mean miscreants such as Florida Representative Trey Radel?

Well, most recipients of either food stamps or welfare ARE children. So, in your usual compassionate Conservative sort of way, you are just confirming the cartoon itself. If nothing else, your honesty is at least somewhat admirable, if not your humanity!!

Nothing like administering a $300 test for a $190 check. Now that is spending for a brighter future

Please tell me, what is the cartoonists lie? While I do get the symbolism and visual metaphor (nod to AgentSmith101) I completely don’t see the inherent lie. The GOP does not want to provide support for the needy, not even for their children, and are using drug testing as an excuse to refuse to support them. Where’s the lie? Are you saying the GOP does want to provide aid to poor families? Are you saying that they are not using drug testing as a qualification for whatever meager funds they may dole out? If you’re trying to get me to buy that one, you’ll need a more symbolism, or a bigger visual metaphor.

Where did you hear that load of garbage? Drug tests as condition for employment in fast food restaurants? Where do you live? Red China? North Korea? Maybe they believe that kind of crap there, but no, not here.

Look up Chelsea Lately a couple of weeks ago.She had Mike Tyson on, and Chelsea Handler apologized for making fun of him, a couple of weeks earlier because of the story that he had a fake you know what filled with $139 worth of guaranteed drug free urine. He joked that at least he wasn’t found pregnant.

When Reagan first ordered “random” drug testing of all employees, we filed suit (I participated in the first actions) and it went to the SCOTUS and we won the case, and only a small number of critical safety jobs (like pilots) remained subject, not all employees. Reagan managed to change the makeup of the court, and that ruling was “altered”, but still not totally overturned.

So, drug testing, as wasteful as it generally has proven to be, IS a “GOP” project, that doesn’t really work on a cost benefit, or crime reduction, basis.

A lie? Moi? So the GOP does want to give support to the needy without the requirement of drug testing? I feel I must apologize. All these years I thought the GOP was trying to cut every means of government support that they could find. Turns out I am making false statements. Next thing you know I will be complimenting you on how clever, witty and intelligent you are.
