I have never understood why giving the CEO a multimillion dollar pay raise – not stock options – never raises the prices. Yet spreading the same amount around to the workers who make less than a living wage will trash the economy. Can someone explain this?

Yea, and the second they get $15 an hour will be the moment McDonald’s and every other fast food install kiosks like the supermarkets and others have done and automate ordering. Then the counter staff gets fired.Following that the kitchen gets automated and the cooking staff get fired. In the end a McDonald’s has a crew of 3 or 4 at most getting $15 an hour with the rest getting unemployment. Now you have 1.4 million unemployed instead.

‘I’ve worked at McDonald’s for 5 years and have 4 kids.

Questions: Why did she have 4 kids out of wedlock, with no means of support? Why did she cheat herself of an education? Why did she not have a husband to help support her children?

All viable questions that liberals do not like to ask. So what we have here is a low informed, min wage worker with a lust for sex like Sandra Fluke! The difference between the two is Sandra want’s the government to pay for the prevention of pregnancy and this gal want’s the consumer to pay for her family.

On minimum wage: What do you lefties think minimum wage should be? Give me one good reason why it shouldn’t be, say $50 or $75 per hour? What is the limit that you would cap it?

“Have you watched the prices of electronic devices in the past few years?”Let’s think about that statement for a minute.

Yep, just how DOES that CEO at McDonalds survive on just $13.6 MILLON a year? How much does THAT add to the cost of a Big Mac??

Additionally, the TV show “Undercover Boss”, more than anything, has shown those CEOs can NOT do the job their low pay workers do, and most have realized only after going into the field how badly they’ve been screwing over employees, and it’s a big lesson for them. Most go in to fix things after being on air.

You’ve just won the “Most Inane Comment of the Day” award. You don’t know anything about the personal lives of fast food workers, whose average age is in the late twenties these days.

Both you and ahab are throwing darts and missing the wall! I do like sex and I was born into the food service industry, I have 40+ years of experience, so YES, I do know something about the personnel lives of fast food workers! I also know the personnel lives of many older people working for min wage at retail stores all over this nation. And they come with experience.

She shouldn’t have 4 kids and expect to earn a living wage at Mc Donalds. Min wage pay is consumer driven, if the price of something does not have perceived,/b> value the only ways to lower cost is reduce labor and or reduce quality or materials. In Mc Donalds case, that would be reduce the portion of meat in their pattie. Everything else is pretty much static, like rent/mortgage, utilities etc. Raising prices is the only other alternative!

Labor cost in fast food is roughly 22% of sales. A Big Mac sells (for sake of example) we will say $3.00 × 22% = $0.66. With the woman’s 5 years there she is above min wage about $9.00 per/hr so at $15.00 per/hour that would be about a 66% (or about a $0.44) increase in her pay. They will now have to charge about $3.50 for that same burger. Let’s not forget, she is paid more than the other workers, so the overall labor cost will increase even more, closer to 80%. Bottom line is, the consumer will either pay the increase or not buy at all!

So, why don’t you answer these questions? On minimum wage: What do you lefties think minimum wage should be? Give me one good reason why it shouldn’t be, say $50 or $75 per hour? What is the limit that you would cap it?

McDonald’s and other fast food restaurants should implement a “tip jar” that is shared among all the employees. I would tip according to the service that I receive just as I do at any other restaurant. My general rule is a minimum of 15% unless the server is rude and/or inattentive. It would be worth paying a tip to get a smile with my fast food service for a change. It might even help with the 50% of the times that my orders are incorrect.

^Josefw: that would be $2.35 an hour, set permanently thanks to Herman Cain while at the NRA (National RESTAURANT Association), punched through Congress. Yep,Herman’s always been in defense of the “little guy”, right.

In a just society “Working Poor” would be an oxymoron.

So then, anybody currently making $15 p/h will be offended and want the same % raise as the min wage earners. The ripple effect is all cost of labor will go up about the same %age forcing an increase of cost of goods across the board . Cost of living will increase for everybody,

Now you are back to where we were before the min wage increase. So now what, we raise min wage to $22 p/h ?
