This is where the infamous tree was introduced? Doesn’t look too threatening without its leaves…

If a tree is well-nourished from other sources, it will use a kite to snack on when it gets the munchies. :-)

We have a tree here that caught some balloons last year and I sure wish it would hurry up and eat them!

I’ve seen something similar with power lines and tennis shoes.

Here’s a solution: Don’t fly kites around it.

The closest I’ve seen to a kite-eating tree was when I visited my aunt in a village near Athens, and some flew a kite right on some medium voltage power lines (20 kV) and there was a very loud bang! and the fuse for the whole village blew, and power was off until the linemen came to change the fuse! I hope that whoever flew that kite had the sense to release hte rope when it went on the power line. I also think he got a fine and a warning, at the very least.

These kids are only about three feet tall, so the tree can only be six feet. ANY adult could reach up and rescue the kite.

Wait – I forgot there aren’t any adults in this world!
