Dumb Friend: never said any such thing. What I HAVE said, but a long time ago, came from numerous sources, like well, Aviation Week, that pointed out a “flaw” in arming our fighters only with missiles: China has enough aircraft to run our birds out of “ammunition” in a direct confrontation of old fashioned “air to air combat”, not that such a scenario will ever play out.
Which, China is already backing down, and stating the “western press” is making up intentions they don’t have.
As we were flying to ’Nam from Japan, a Chinese MIG flew right up to our airliner (military charter). The pilot pulled off his oxygen mask, smiled, and waved at us. We all waved back on that side of the plane. He put his mask back on, turned, and did a wing-wag as he left. Even though I would have Chinese made mortars and weapons fired at me for a year, and many from Russia as well, I still chose, and choose, to remember that pilot, doing his job, and merely reaching out as one human to another.
That’s how we can achieve peace, either with Iran, or China, Mexico, Israel, or any other nation. Recognizing “humanity” for both its accomplishments, and faults, should bring cautious optimism to the world, instead of unfounded hatred, and more wars based on making everything “Us vs them”- the most common fault of AMERICAN “nationalists”.
“I’m surprised Obama didn’t pick you over Chuck Hagel as Secy of Defense.”Given they already filibustered one of their own…a Republican nominated by a Democratic administration…why are you surprised, Church?Are you surprised because any black nominate would be confirmed?Maybe Colin Powell might be a possibility?We both know if he were nominated by Obama, he would be filibustered. Care to explain why?
