Not sad at all to see filabusters go. When they comprise of silly things like reading from dr. seuess its clear that they are being used as a weapon to badger each other into submission. Perhaps if they were to be used to present a intelligent arguement they might have some use. But this is Congress so that probably won’t happen.
Short version: If Obama bothered to vet his picks before sending them to Congress he would avoid a lot of the problems he’s had with them. Sending someone who has a pile of baggage and serious issues with their background is not a smart thing to do. But, then again, Obama is not the sharpest tool in the shed but more like just a tool; maybe a wedge… That being the simplest tool known to man.
I don’t even LIKE Harry Reid, and find his “leadership” weak, but at his very WORST, Harry hasn’t ever come close to damaging America, and Americans, as much as Mitch McConnell (and his gang of mental midgets loyal to “the party above all”) at his very “best”.
Ashcroft, Gonzales, Scarlett, Rice, O’Niell, Paulson, Rumsfeld, Norton, Kempthorne, Veneman, Evans, Principi, NIcholson, Peake, Ridge, Chertoff, , just some “major” appointments by “W” that never should have passed and were serious errors and affronts to the nation. Going down to judicial appointments, the list of filibusters should have been much longer, but gee, that “nasty” old Democrat side felt keeping the government running was more important than grinding axes to chop up the nation’s very foundation.
Thank you David for your red herring attempt at an ad hominem. Reagan, Clinton, Bush, and all other Presidents had their issues and problems in office. I think both Reagan and Clinton were decent Presidents who made things better during their time in office. I also think on the whole Bush was successful in office even if he wasn’t better than average in terms of his Presidency.Obama on the other hand has demonstrated an utter lack of ability to act Presidential, operate in coalition politics, and get anything done. His "signature’ piece of legislation… of which he had no part in producing… is proving to be a disaster the US hasn’t seen in scope and effect on the nation since the pre-civil war years as slavery tore the nation apart..Don’t buy that?Let’s review this again after the employer mandate takes effect next year. You should note that Obama just illegally moved it back another five (5) weeks to put its effect AFTER next year’s election because he, and his administration realize that its effects will be so disasterous that a Democrat couldn’t be elected dog catcher if it hit before the election. That mandate will effect about one in three Americans. Let’s see what happens then.
Enoki: just a question: if he had “no part in producing”, why does every right-winger, and more than a few “lefties” blame HIM PERSONALLY for it?? (and it’s flaws, that yes, do exist, but CAN be fixed enough to make it work, even if indeed, far from the perfect plan.)
