On the other side of that tunnel are the places Americans want to be to be happy and secure. But we are so caught up in our dislikes for the ‘other drivers’, their looks, their bumper stickers, the music we hear them playing… that we refuse to work together in order to keep the traffic moving. Instead of slowly moving toward similar goals, traffic is at a standstill.^The tunnel in the case of this cartoon is too narrow and poorly designed for traffic to flow easily even if the drivers were being cooperative, and sadly, the extremist amongst the Rs are providing additional distractions. But they are still safe in most places. Just got my 2014 Group Plan brochure yesterday. There are a number of changes from previous years (been with the plan for over 20 years). It appears a number of those changes will 1. LOWER premium increases compared to previous years. 2. Make the company responsible for more, with changes in copays. 3. For the first time, make “non-formulary” drugs available at a discount from what I currently pay.
These changes do reflect actions from the ACA, for people who DO already have insurance. It appears those private policies “canceling” folks, are doing it because they don’t comply with the new requirements. Most, but admittedly, not all, changes seem to be improvements.
Yes, not having the web site properly prepared was a screwup, and Sebelius, and Obama have said so, but the “conservative” side never listens, like when “W” apologized for lying about WMDs and Saddam playing a part in 9/11. Oh, wait a minute, nobody in the “W” administration ever apologized for any of THEIR screwups that killed hundreds of thousands of people, and cost multiple trillions of dollars!

And yes, it does appear that with that smaller increase in premiums this year, there WILL be some better benefits!! It may also be to my benefit to go for the “lower option” plan, and cut those premiums in roughly half, with little impact on the coverage we most often use and need, as I now have some other source “filler” available.
Which speaking of “complexity” of health care, my plan brochure this year is 104 pages long, and it WILL be important to study more carefully before deciding. For folks signing up for “Obamacare”, many, if not most of whom, have NEVER had health insurance before, I’m sure it’s a LOT more complicated to figure out what to do.
