Darrin’s right about acute hearing in the young. When I was a child, teenager even, when my parents were arguing I had to put a pillow over my head and scratch it to keep from hearing every word. Now the tinnitus would drown them out.

My mom has great and selective hearing. I remember how my mom who is still alive at 88, when arguing with my dad I was writing to my grandma, dads mom, she tell me what to write, very hurtful words yet I did not know hurtful at the time. Yes children do listen to adults talking.
