You can still get cheap good looking working chronographers for a fraction of that price. Hey, they might not carry the Titanium case but a good Stainless Steel case will do the trick.
I think the most I ever paid for a watch was around $80 when digital (LCD) was new. My current watch cost $10, looks good, and keeps good time. Still digital, with alarm and stopwatch. I never went back to analog.

I love my cheepo Timex, with the very large numbers. You can light up the dial, like when you are in the movies.
