My spot on the hill has a small deck from which I can watch the lake while smoking the rare cigar and toast life with a snifter of brandy.

Everyone needs a place of contentment. Many have written about it. Rose’s “Let it Be tree” (Rose is Rose), Emperor Frederich II’s hunting palaces in southern Italy. For me, it’s my back yard.

We used to have a hill like that, empty field behind our house with trees and a view where you could see most of the town below. Used to take our dogs Teddy and Gallagher up there and let them run. Then the owner of the property decided to sell it off, all the trees were torn down and 3 houses put up. :-( I still live on the hill, from my house, I can see down below and the lights of the high school and the mall. Kind of peaceful I guess, but not near as nice as before.
