the only way basset owners would not be able to identify a picture of a basset, is if the picture is a close up of an eye a tail or something non-basset identifying

How could they not know a basset hound? Based on this comic alone I now can easily identify a basset hound and I always think of Fred!

Go easy on them, Fred. Sometimes Bassets end up with shorter ears than they should, so at the right angle, they could look a LITTLE like a beagle.. But I can always tell the difference.
