A cousin of mine’s boy is about 18 and hasn’t got a driver’s license yet. Locally, we had a tendency for boys, at least, to wake mom or dad up about 0500 on “the day”. No idea what happened to him…. My daughter, OTOH, ran her Temporary license to within 24 hours of expiration without bothering to get the license. She did the mandatory private training course, and just sat on it.
Meantime, a bit earlier, my mom had bought another one of her grandkids a car, and when my niece turned her car back to mom because she couldn’t take it to college, my daughter got it.
THEN she got serious [grin]…. I picked her up at school and we went to the testing center. After she passed, we went to the Registrar’s. Then she dropped me back at home, and we barely ever saw her again….
My primary defensive driving rule: “ALWAYS presume that the other driver will do something that utterly insane.”
Come to think of it, Maria and my daughter are very much alike. Except that my kid’s 28 now, and an RN.
