I’ve seen AAAA’s (cute little things), and I know that B batteries still exist in some places (like Europe, where they’re used for bicycle lamps), but has there ever been an A battery?
Harrumph! I may be showing my age here, (78) but back in the 20’s, “A” batteries were used to light the filaments of those old UX210A’s and their ilk, and “B” batteries were used to supply bias to them before the grid-leak phenomenon was discovered and used. The “C” battery was used as the ‘plate’ voltage and anyfinagaling with the “B” battery (now obsolescent) resulted in a bright red glow, something hot inside the box and a need to whip the buggy to the nearest drug store for a new set of tubes.
