    When I lived in rural midwest MANY years ago the power would go out a lot and be out for hours. Reading was all there was; and listening to the rain. :)

    We’ve had some of those power outages.Books during daylight, board games by lantern light. Flashlights are used for only short tasks, because we don’t want to use up all of our batteries.

    As a child I dreamed that I saw a tornado and went down in the basement, carrying the 1967 Childcraft Annual, “Against the Elements”. It had a piece on how to survive a tornado.
