In the early 1970s neighborhoods were still in the mist of segregation, Whites on one side of the tracks and Blacks on the other. Bussing was done so the schools would be interracial and the two races could learn to get along. That meant longer school bus rides for some of the kids, one of their favorite social places until the bus driver would yell, “No more talking for the rest of the week!” Then it sucked.
