I did the same thing when I was a student in Boston—out onto the fire escape to get a breath of “nature”.

the logical part of me wonders how he got out on the rooftop.

That building doesn’t seem structurally sound.

I like your new avatar, DOC. Anyone who is alert and outdoors that early is communing with nature in my eyes. I commune with the nature of my comfy bed instead. :-)
