We have wonderful summer weather in most of South Africa. Although the lowveld is hot and humid in the summer and Durban on the eastern coast is very, very humid from January to March. We have several different climates for visitors to choose from, beautiful mountains, lots and lots of beaches as well as nature reserves. We truly do live in a very diverse and interesting country.

One of my friends parents live in Canada during the summer and central Illinois during the winter. Everyone around here (Illinois) thinks they’re nuts for doing it this way.

My dad refused to move into a Retirement Community, for the same reason – too many old people.

I love fact she doesn’t just get away from snow, but she helps others.

I wonder if this means Jan is also going!?
We get the snow birds here in Southern AZ about this time of the year. Mostly, it’s not bad, boosts the economy. But every now and again, driving to work, I get stuck behind two snowbirds, “drag-racing” 10-15mph UNDER the speed limit. Kind of a pain when I’m having a morning where nothing has gone right and I’m running late!

Nov. 4th, I’m going back to St. Pete, FL, where I grew up ;and now reside. Our kids developed a sense of humor regarding all the elderly “snowbirds.” A son of a friend pretended to be on a CB and said, “This is Gray Prune . . .” and gave a hilarious routine. My daughter said, imitating a very elderly driver, “Ethel, help me put m’ foot on th’ pedal!”

My m-in-l lived in an “old folks home” and at 90 talked about “the old people” there. She didn’t consider herself to be old.
