From Obama’s speech on the 10th:“America is not the world’s policeman. Terrible things happen across the globe, and it is beyond our means to right every wrong. But when, with modest effort and risk, we can stop children from being gassed to death, and thereby make our own children safer over the long run, I believe we should act. That’s what makes America different. That’s what makes us exceptional. With humility, but with resolve, let us never lose sight of that essential truth.”
“Iran/Contra”, “WMDs”, and backing folks like Pinochet, let alone attacking Grenada, Panama, and other countries sovereignty, yes, we’ve had an “exceptional” record under Republican leaderships.
More republican bs (what else is there?). Obama has said many times America is exceptional although that’s bs, too. And I have no doubt Putin thinks he (and Russia) are exceptional, too.
We in the U.S. are basically the children of Europeans, Africans, and Asians who were not wanted in their home countries. From nearly the beginning, those who stayed behind sneered at us and our “mongrel” culture. .Then we prospered, given more fair circumstances, and helped them with their problems – actually to a big extent saving their cultures in the last century with technology and blood. I’ve always found their continuing snobbery to be twisted. .Russia, in particular, contributed many from Ukraine, from whence the survivors of enormous famines fled to America. Baleful Russian influence also caused many in Eastern Europe, Christians and Jews, to come here..Yes, the unexceptional eventually become exceptional and if this doesn’t shine as brightly in contrast as it once did, it’s because we have greatly shared our Light with them all.

Hmm, let’s see if I can find a quote where Obama says America is exceptional. Gosh, I found one!! Can you find the quote? It’s very cleverly hidden.

Agreed, but what he is really doing is spouting forth his usual very funny total sarcasm of the neocon right wing!
