Don’t bother with the Riviera, go in the back country. Beautiful and quiet. Not many lakes though, it is quite dry. Mercantour National Park and the Valley of Marvels by the Alps, the Green Provence and the Verdon… So many beautiful quiet places to visit rather than be packed on the Riviera itself.

When it was around, Gustine Lake was anything but quiet. Our parents used to take us camping in French Creek State Park. Now THAT was quiet.
