Val: Holly, go into school with an open mind, an open heart, and a healthy sense of curiosity.
Boy: Hey, HOLLY...wanna see something really, really GROSS??
Holly: Have you BEEN to middle school??
It’s like Billy Connolly said: cheerful young people will be cheerful old people, grumpy negative young people become grumpy… well you get it. Luckily in this strip they keep the size of kindergarten-kiddies, so no fear of anybody growing old, right? (yeees, the ridiculous fact that everybody stays frozen: 7 months; 9-year-old; 13(?)year-old.. and so forth… annoys me. With peanuts it was different, because they never interacted with grown-ups)
“Looks like he kept the lunch he found at the bottom of his locker at the end of last year.”You just reminded me that when I was in elementary school (grades 1 – 6), I was hunted down and asked to remove my ancient lunch box from my locker. Its presence had become obvious. I’m not proud of this.
Interesting to see different school arrangements. In sweden we have preschool (age 6), low shool 1-3th grade, middle school 4-6, high school 7-9th grade. Its rougly trasnlated and high school doesnt seem to mean the same as in the US. 1-9th grade is mandatory, but almost everybody goes what we call gymnasium too. Mostly 3 years, 10-12 grade. And unless you went somewhere unusual or special, its ALL free education, even the university :)

Never let it be said that boys aren’t willing to share things (like the sight of something gross).

Can we go back to the crawfish storyline? I’d rather deal with predatory crustaceans than Holly.

I’m all for education, but Holly has a point there.

The only reason I survived both middle school AND high school was because of decent friends and band.
