It was an SRL311, more commonly known as a Datsun 2000 convertible: faded silver with black primer spots – like a leopard complex horse – with a replacement deck lid in yellow. But that’s another story..That car was scary. It was a five speed in the days when almost everything else had only four. .You couldn’t start it from a stop in first, had to start in second or risk leaving your tires behind on the pavement.,Too bad it rusted away.

I had a car like that once. If I parked it next to the racetrack concession stand, people would throw trash in it.

Alvin has a convertible. Emmy Lou could sew up the holes in the convertible top. It would make a great impression on him.
