Merkley and some others are working on it, a timely move. Doesn’t matter which party, restore the original Senate rules. The only thing Rand Paul has done that I can respect was his standing up and "talking it out’, as it’s supposed to be. (even if I didn’t agree with anything he said, basically.)
Wuerker’s a bit off on this one — the filibuster wasn’t killed, but the GOP was called out on particularly egregious abuse, leaving departments without heads for two years because they don’t like the law and filibustering the appointment of cabinet secretaries just to see if hurting America enough might make Obama mad.
I think Matt W. is overreaching some here. As far as I know, filibuster rules were not changed in the slightest. -Harry came to an ‘agreement’ with Republicans for them to retract filibusters for several appointments under the threat of changing the rules.-Last year Harry said he had a handshake agreement with Republicans that Republicans would stop abusing the filibuster and the Senate wouldn’t change the rules. We all know how that turned out.
