The little ones are being watched by teenagers that are old enough to babysit the young ones on their own, and they often do so. So the “OMG TERRIBLE PARENTS” is unwarranted.
BTW, I’m one of those who likes the weekly “August” strips…brings back a lot of memories (some good, some not so good). I hope everyone doused themselves with a good, potent sunscreen! ;)
On a Windows computer (don’t know about Apple), just type “Charmap” into Search and it will bring up the entire Character Map for your computer, listing all the special characters (as well as the regular ones) such as ¢, é, ⅝, ®, etc.And the musical notes, of course.
Here in KS not having lazy days of Summer. We went through 2-3 years of draught. July became rainy and now August. Very enjoyable. We have young trees that are growing fast. We have so much rain riverbeds and ditches are overflowing.
I surprised the family is not in the water playing instead of sleeping.
When I worked 3rd shift in my 20s, people often asked me if I slept outside in the sun. I never knew why. Sleeping in the sun is the best way to get a nasty sunburn. I wanted no part of that. I slept inside, safely away from the sun.

It’s good that there are some awake teenagers so that the little bitties won’t drown . . .

Gee, this strip makes it appear as if adults have lost the energy level of children…and of course we have, haven’t we? lol.
locake over 10 years ago
At least one adult needs to be awake to watch the 2 youngest kids around water. You can’t depend on 3 older kids.
