well, yes, to be sure. But when that poster with the Uncle Sam image was first illustrated (1917) there was a genuine need for male cannon fodder in Europe.(and we won’t come back ‘til it’s over ,over there)
Actually, Columbia is the female personification of the country. Uncle Sam only represented(s) the military.
